What’s the number one reason campers are hesitant to commit to a camping trip? The possibility of rain. Well, we’re fixing that….
Tentrr has partnered with Sensible Weather to reimburse campers for a stay that was impacted by rain. The guarantee is designed to give campers confidence to book if they are concerned about rainy weather. If campers choose the Rain Guarantee and it rains while on their trip, they will get some or all of their money back.
When reserving a Tentrr site, the Rain Guarantee is presented as a fee-based add-on in the booking process. It's an optional add-on similar to the way that airlines present trip insurance when travelers book a flight. It is the camper’s choice whether they want to add the rain guarantee to their reservation or not. Once chosen, campers are protected and will be reimbursed for each day it rains during their reservation.
Please read all the FAQ’s below and watch this video that further explains the Tentrr Rain Guarantee.
If it rains during my trip, will the camper get reimbursed?
Yes. A Rain Guarantee will reimburse you if your trip is impacted by rain (based on a determined amount of rain in a given time period during a day). The Tentrr host or Tentrr does not provide the reimbursement. The reimbursement is paid directly from Sensible Weather.
How much does a Rain Guarantee cost a camper?
The Rain Guarantee is a small percentage of the daily rate. Typically between $3 to $19 a night depending upon location/climate.
What does a Rain Guarantee cover?
The Rain Guarantee covers each day it rains while on a Tentrr trip. Campers are reimbursed based on the amount of rain during the specific day of the stay. Campers can review the specific rain parameters guaranteed with their purchase on their reservation. In general, the terms are generous and are designed to reimburse them it rains. The coverage period is 8AM- 10PM on each day per stay based on the policy offered during each booking.
Should campers cancel if it looks like rain?
NO! Campers should not cancel their trip due to rain! If they do, they’ll lose the Rain Guarantee and will not be reimbursed. Campers need to maintain the reservation in order to be reimbursed. Should you not go on the trip and it rains, you will be reimbursed. Should you choose not to go on the trip and it doesn’t rain, you will not be reimbursed.
How much will a Rain Guarantee reimburse campers?
Rain Guarantee reimbursements are based on the nightly rate, the amount of rainfall and length of rainfall. Based on the amount of rain, you can expect a percentage of the nightly rate (or potentially the full rate) to be reimbursed.
How much rain needs to fall in order for campers to qualify for a Rain Guarantee?
The Rain Guarantee is based on each camping day. If a given amount of rain falls within that period, you will be reimbursed. Specific rain amounts are shown during the booking process based on location of the site and climate of the specific area.
What is not covered by a Rain Guarantee?
The Rain Guarantee only covers rain. It does not cover lightning, hail, snow, wind, or any other weather events. It is specifically based on the amount of rain precipitation that falls during a given time period. The Rain Guarantee is only offered to Signature Site bookings made on Tentrr.com - it is not applicable to bookings made through OTA partners.
Do campers need to submit a claim?
No, there’s no need to submit a claim. Sensible Weather’s climate platform automatically detects rain covered by the Rain Guarantee and will initiate a claim on the camper's behalf. On the morning of a camping day, campers will receive a text based on the rain and forecast for the day with their reimbursement.
If a trip qualifies for a Rain Guarantee reimbursement, how do campers get their money back?
Sensible Weather will notify campers of a Rain Guarantee payout automatically via text and email each morning of their trip with instructions on how to get reimbursed. (It’s simple, just submit ACH information and the reimbursement posts to the camper's bank account). No hassle, no fees.
What is the time frame it needs to rain in order to qualify for a Rain Guarantee?
It needs to rain between 8am - 10pm the day of the camper's reservation in order to qualify for a Rain Guarantee.
What if a camper says it rained and the weather data says it did not?
Sensible Weather has very precise data and is very generous in determining reimbursement. They can detect if a camper has made a fraudulent claim. Should a camper need assistance, have questions or need assistance with your reimbursement, they will work directly with Sensible Weather. A Tentrr host will not be involved in any reimbursement or reimbursement dispute.
